Formaldehyde Testing

In the processing of footwear, formaldehyde has three main uses:

 

(1) Anti-wrinkle finishing: Formaldehyde-containing cross-linking agents are still widely used in anti-wrinkle, anti-wrinkle and non-iron finishing. If used improperly, the concentration will exceed the allowable range.

 

(2) Improve color fastness: inexpensive formaldehyde-containing auxiliaries are often used for direct dyes and occasionally for post-treatment of reactive dyes. Depending on the formulation used, its content in the Class A product easily exceeds the limit of 20 mg/kg, even exceeding the 75 mg/kg limit for Class B products. There are now cationic additives containing little or no formaldehyde, such as sillies A and B.

 

(3) Paint printing: High-quality formaldehyde-containing cross-linking agents are widely used in the paint printing process, which means that it is almost impossible to meet the 75 mg/kg limit even if used with great care. There is now a very low formaldehyde content cross-linking agent supply, that is, the use of urea in the presence of reagents with formaldehyde can achieve the purpose of formaldehyde-free paint printing.
